FYI, This and That

About This Site:
We are being hosted by WEB.COM.  Allotted usage is a whopping 1,024 MB.  Presently, we are using 57.8 MB This amounts to only about  5.6%.  (and to think my first hard drive was 5 meg.).  We have a lot of memory to do many things.
In deciding on a website address our initials "CBL"  immediately came to mind and the word Lutheran was added.  Thus our address became http://www.cbllutheran.org/  A simple cbllutheran.org in the address bar will work.
We use the domain .org (pronounced "dot org") as we are a "not for profit" site.  FYI, other domains are .com for commercial, .gov for government, .mil for military, and  .net for network. These are the most popular and more are being added everyday.  Some domains add the country which they are located such as .com.uk, .net.au, and .org.us.
WEB.COM maintains statistics for the site such as the location where the visit originates when visited, the pages visited, the time spent, and the list continues.  I am amazed with some of the countries that have visited.  Germany, Romania, Japan, and India just to name a few.  Equally amazing is the time visitors have come.  Obliviously, some local visitors have problems sleeping with visits recorded at 02:30 AM!

As you can see you do leave a footprint.  This is called your IP address.  I can identify which provider you use such as Natco or SuddenLink, but  I cannot identify you by name. This does give me some ability such as locking you out of the site. Sadly, other sites use this address to develop a spram list and other unworthy things.  Your service provider can and will identify you by name when issued a court order.  Anyone is foolish if they can think they can hide out on the internet.
If interested you can easily discover your IP address by going to http://www.ip-adress.com/  You can also find someone's location by the IP address.  I just receive an email from Bank America requesting I email them regarding some one trying to access my account.  Letterhead and everything looked legit, BUT, the IP address was in Japan.  As you can see I have fun with this site.

Email 101 or Netiquette:
I delete about 75% of my emails.  I will not take the time to read  emails from people who do not use proper etiquette which is now called netiquette.  It is hard enough to deal with all the spams that get through Sorry, there is no excuse to have to dig four or five emails deep to received the message.  Email petitions do not work, phony legends or cybermyth run wild, and my delete key is about worn out.  Sigh, but I still love ya and keep emailing me.   Cool  The following are some simple rules we should all follow.

Wink  Learn to send emails using the bcc command. Almost all email programs use this feature.  There is no reason to expose all email adresses in your adress book.  Spamers are watching, in fact, they pay people to collect good email adresses.
Yell  Do not use all captial letters in your emailsThis consider as shouting or yelling.
Embarassed Do verify all news articles to see if they are true.  No, the Koran 9:11 does not say anything about eagles.  Does Johnson & Johnson personally test their rectal thermometers?  No, that new virus is a hoax. You are a victim and people are laughing at your gulibility.  Check articles at http://www.snopes.com or http://truthorfiction.com.  Do help spread the truth on the internet.
